A day in the life

A physical therapist assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. The profession requires working closely with patients in settings such as outpatient clinics, hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. The job is physically demanding. Excellent critical thinking skills and people skills are essential.

Three reasons to consider this program.

  1. Your work improves people's lives. Imagine helping someone learn to walk again.
  2. Roane State has outstanding facilities for PTAs.
  3. Starting salaries for PTAs are good, and the job outlook is strong.

Before you sign up, make sure you understand...

  1. The final year is academically challenging and is three full-time semesters.
  2. You must be comfortable putting your hands on patients. PTAs have physical contact with patients.
  3. Admission is competitive. The typical GPA for accepted students is above 3.5, and only 20 spots are available.
