Calling all Roane State artists! We are refreshing the Cumberland Learning Center to make it a more inviting space, one that promotes community and collaboration. We are now looking for artwork that helps celebrate the spirit of Roane State, and we would love to consider your ideas! Please submit a proposal for a work exploring what you feel best embodies Roane State.
Guidelines
- Applicants must be RSCC students. Special consideration will be paid to those who have taken classes at the Cumberland campus.
- Students may submit proposals individually or as independent teams of up to 5 students.
- The proposed artwork must be original and not infringe on any copyrighted material.
- The best proposals will visually communicate the artist’s meaningful, thoughtful, and deliberate use of the art wall area in the Learning Center.
- Artwork project proposals should include strong visual components (color, text, and form, for example) that evoke the spirit of community and learning that the Learning Center represents.
- Works may be representational or abstract, utilizing materials and methods of the artist’s choice.

How to submit a proposal

- Prepare a proposal of 5 or fewer pages. The proposal should include a cover page, contact information, and a proposal title. Also, include an artist’s statement of interest, describing the chosen theme and artistic medium. One or two examples of the previous artist’s work would also be helpful.
- Share in detail a design description, including materials, aesthetic choices, mounting, framing, and lighting considerations.
- The submission must include a conceptual rendering or some type of graphic visualization.
