Federal Pell Grants are an made available through the Title IV Student Financial Aid Programs and funded by tax dollars. Students should apply early through the FAFSA (Roane State's school code is 009914) and make the Federal Pell Grant the primary source of financial aid since all other sources of assistance are based upon this eligibility. Beginning October 1, 2016, the FAFSA will be available for the 2017-2018 aid year and on October 1 for each following year. A lifetime limit of the Federal Pell grant is equal to 12 full-time semesters and is monitored by the Department of Education.
