Emergency situations may include, but are not limited to: weather closings, severe weather warnings, building or campus lockdowns, campus evacuations, other situations where Roane State would need to notify students, staff or faculty of an emergency.
Roane State’s RaiderAlert system automatically broadcasts tornado warnings issued by the National Weather Service.
According to the National Weather Service a “tornado warning is issued when a tornado is indicated by the WSR-88D radar or sighted by spotters; therefore, people in the affected area should seek safe shelter immediately.”
Please note that automated RaiderAlerts for tornado warnings may not contain much detail about a potential tornado. Seek shelter and check local weather reports for more information.
In addition, automated RaiderAlerts for tornado warnings are issued around the clock. Please be aware that you could receive an alert during non-school hours.
Roane State has only arranged for subscriptions for all students, faculty and staff. However, you can add additional phone numbers and emails to your account.
